<br />After and almost successful attempt on her life, [[Medusa]] demanded that her security be increased.  Dismissing the [[Colubrida Guard]], whom she felt had failed; The Boa Constrictor Gorgons were recruited to take their place.  Boas are calm, cunning and rarely seen in the company of the other Gorgon species.  Nocturnal by nature, they keep to themselves in quiet contemplation.  The only Gorgon species that Medusa allows within her temple, the Boas set up ambush points around their queen and wait patiently for interlopers.  Boas can sense body heat, making them extremely effective against human assassins.  Trained to use the same weaponry as their master, their whips and daggers made of filed bone can flay the flesh from their victims.  Varying greatly in size, some rare Boa Gorgons live long enough and are large enough to swallow a full grown human whole after crushing them in their powerful coils.

<br />Unlike most of the Gorgons, the Boas will listen to Medusa over [[Eurayle]] or [[Stheno]].  They serve as Medusa's personal guard and are untrusted by the other Gorgons.  Medusa was rarely seen without a few Boas around her and wherever she may have disappeared to, it's a safe bet that at least some of the Boas followed.
